Please be advised that the Contractor will be temporarily changing the alignment and traffic configuration of County Road 43 starting on the morning of Friday November 8th. The Westbound traffic West of the Kemptville Creek Bridge will be redirected onto the new County Road 43 alignment up to the Community Square (Shoppers Drug Mart entrance). Ongoing

Occasional short periods of traffic slow downs and/or lane closures to allow for large trucks to deliver materials to the Kemptville Creek Bridge. These closures will be between Kemptville Retirement Living and the Creek Side Plaza and are expected to continue intermittently until summer 2025 (date is subject to change based on bridge construction progress).


Project Overview

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville’s Contractor (R.W. Tomlinson Ltd.) and the Municipality of North Grenville has commenced the four-lane widening of County Road 43 from 200 metres west of County Road 44 to 220 metres east of Colonnade Drive, in Kemptville.

The project will include:

  • Changing the existing 2-lane rural roadway with ditches to a 4-lane urban roadway with curbs and storm sewers.
  • 4 new roundabouts and modifications to 2 existing roundabouts.
  • Centre medians to limit turning movements to the roundabouts (except between James Street and Anniversary Way), which will include a 5th lane to provides access to nearby commercial establishments.
  • A 3 metre wide shared-use pathways that allow 2-way travel on both sides of the roadway as well as pedestrian crossings with pedestrian activated flashing signals.
  • The removal and replacement of the existing 2-lane bridge on County Road 43 over the Kemptville Creek with a new 4-lane bridge extending to the South.

The work is anticipated to begin in March 2024 and span the course of 3 years.
